Hello everyone! My name is Kirstin and I'm a small town 19- year old college student trying to pursue interior designing. I started this blog in hope to have people personally hear my weight loss journey. Not only that, but I'm hoping to help motivate others around me, regardless of size or age, and remind them that it is never too late to start something. Throughout my life I have always been known as "chubby" or "fat" or even "obese". These words would cause anyone to feel insecure about themselves even if it weren't true. Taking it personally and letting what others said put me in a negative space, I reverted to eating even more as a comfort, even though I am a type 1 diabetic.
This is me! :)

Diagnosed at the age of 11 didn't hit me as hard as it does now, especially since, at the time, I really how no clue as to how sever my condition is. I kept eating as an escape from the hateful people around me in school, and didn't care to keep myself in check. As a kid, I always snuck in extra snacks throughout the day, and especially before bed, and throughout those years I experienced so much physical and medical pain and exhaustion, all because I continuously neglected my own body's needs. By the age of 17, I had hit my highest weight of 190lbs. I hated myself more than I previously had, and referred to starving myself in hopes of losing weight. Yet again I had been screwing with my diabetes and was putting myself more at risk than before by missing doses and only paying the most attention to my disease before meals. I know I previously stated that this blog would be about my weight loss journey, but, I would also like to use this safe space as a way to implement the progress within my diabetes care as well.
To my knowledge, I am about 170-180lbs and I am only 5'3". My goal is to reach the weight of 135lbs by the end of the year. Although to some, it may not seem possible, but I am hoping to be able to step up my pace per month, and check-in here as a way to track my progress. When it comes to my diabetes, my current A1C is about a 10, when I'm supposed to be more near 7 to be considered healthy. I plan on keeping up with my blood glucose readings, as well as my injections, which will also be updated on here as well. Some more things I plan to bring to this blog involves images of me per month, monthly weigh-ins, activity regarding exercise, as well as meals I have eaten and health tips and trips for people like me. In hopes to thrive this year, working for a healthy body is one of my many goals in 2021, and I don't plan on letting anything get in my way. Thank you for reading and I'll check-in with another blog post next month!
